Bluetooth & audio troubleshooting
- Connect the Bluetooth speaker before pressing Start Listening. Use Test sound below to check where audio plays.
- Keep Safari in the foreground with the screen on. iOS may suspend the microphone and WebRTC when Safari is in the background or the phone is locked. Set Settings > Display & Brightness > Auto-Lock to Never as a fallback.
- Turn off Silent mode / raise the volume on both phone and speaker.
- If audio comes from the phone instead of the speaker, open Control Center > AirPlay icon and pick the speaker, then press Stop and Start Listening again.
- Some speakers switch to low-quality "headset" mode when the microphone is active. If the speaker has its own microphone, iOS may use it; choose the iPhone microphone in Control Center if possible.
- Place the speaker a little away from the phone. Echo cancellation helps, but a Bluetooth speaker can never be fully isolated from the microphone.
- If the speaker disconnects, iOS falls back to the phone speaker; reconnect and press Stop, then Start Listening.
